Here’s the thing. I didnt even put the buttons on this before I tossed it. Dont get me wrong, I learned a ton (welted pockets, topstitching etc) Never took on something so complicated – with so much construction. Forty pieces in all.
So what’s the problem? The fabric! The demin is way to heavy and stiff. It was free so I used it as a muslin to see if I was a med or lrg.
Next time, if there is one, my fabric will be much lighter and with a bit of stretch. The feeling I have right now is Im tired of this pattern and process involved. It will be a while and I am onto sewing other things.
This is the first time I have abandoned something at the muslin stage? How about you?
At least I know my size now!
Yep, I embroidered a heap of fabric to make a peasant skirt, atm it is in my stash waiting to be put to better use. the skirt was never hemmed it was so awful!
At least you can reuse the fabric!!! I felt like I had cardboard arms 🙂
I love the look of a bohemian peasant skirt!
It looks awesome, even if it’s too stiff and not comfortable.
Too kind! It really is a fail. But I did finish most of it (less the buttons) 🙂
We have all had to abandon a project for one reason or another. I have a few in my ‘what the hell was I thinking’ box. Yours looks so nice.. all that hard work, perhaps if you send it through the washer and dryer every time you do a load over the next month or so you can eventually soften it up enough that you could wear it. But no matter what the lessons learned it priceless.
So true!
